Prescreening filter

The first purification stage starts with the Prescreening Filter. Its main function is to capture large particles such as dust, pollen and skin flakes.

Another feature of the pre-filter is to preserve and extend the life of the HEPA and Activated carbon filters. By pre-filtering the larger molecules, it shields the HEPA filter from getting clogged. The pre filter needs to be washed regularly.

HEPA filter / SuperHEPA filter (depending on model)

The 2nd stage consists of a High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter commonly called a HEPA filter.

Originally developed by the Atomic Energy Commission, it removes 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns in size, almost 300 times smaller than the width of a human hair.

HEPA technology is currently the only type of air purification tool recommended by the U.S. Government’s Department of Homeland Security.

Activated carbon filter (the Neoair Enviro Plus does not use this filter)

The 3rd filtration level includes an Activated Carbon Filter.

This particular filter captures and neutralizes common chemicals, gases, odors and tobacco smoke with the highly absorbent micro-pores in its matrix.

Advanced O.F.S. filter

The 4th filtration stage comprises an Advanced O.F.S. Filter, exclusive to the Neoair air purifiers.

The O.F.S. technology has proven to have broad spectrum antibacterial effects and can restrain growth and reproduction of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Test results prove that the O.F.S. filter can kill up to 97.7% of airborne bacteria in a room after 6 hours of operation.

Optional negative ions output (dust precipitator)

The 5th and final purification stage concludes with the Optional Dust Precipitator system. It produces plasma flocks to knock down dust from the air and to dramatically precipitate certain harmful airborne particles, as small as 0.01 microns in size. This innovative technology is used extensively overseas in several industries and it is getting more attention all over the world.

The negative air ionization has not just another great impact in reducing airborne microorganisms, it also improves people's well being. Studies showed that a higher concentration of negative ions in the air led to a drop in dizziness and nausea in more than half of the tested persons and headaches reduced significantly, see studies below.

This feature can be turned ON/OFF at anytime by using the remote control. Even when generating negative ions this additional feature is completely ozone free. (see scientific research)
