ACH
Is the number of times the air of the entire room passes through the air purifier, also called Air Exchange Rate. The higher the value, the more often the air is cleaned.

AMAH
The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers AHAM) is an organization that verifies the testing results of home appliances such as air purifiers, room air conditioners and humidifiers. The EPA and the American Lung Association recognize AHAM's performance tests as accurate and impartial.

CADR
The clean air delivery rate indicates the volume of filtered air delivered by an air cleaner. 3 CADR numbers are published with all certified air purifiers. One for smoke, one for pollen and one for dust. The higher the tobacco smoke, pollen and dust numbers, the faster the unit filters the air.

CFM
Cubic feet per minute

dB(A)
Also referred to as decibel. The decibel is used as a measurement for the loudness of sound.
Examples of noise levels:

Derp 1
An allergen found in dust mite excrements, which is a common cause for allergic reactions.

EPA
The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is to protect human health and the environment. Since 1970, EPA has been working for a cleaner, healthier environment for the American people.

HEPA
High Efficiency Particulate Air. A filter designed to remove 99.97% of airborne particles that are at least 0.3 microns in size out of the air passing through the filter. This includes household dust, pollen and tobacco smoke.

HyperHEPA™
Patented filter technology that is used in IQAir air purifiers. It is certified and tested to filter even the smallest particles (down to 0.003 microns in size).

HEPASilent™
Combination of filter media and an encapsulated ion particle charging chamber used in all Blueair air purifiers.

O.F.S.
Organic Fiber Sterilization technology (O.F.S.). is a unique filter technology used in Neoair air purifiers.  The O.F.S. filters are soaked in a special neutral, non-irritating organic solution. The compound bonds with the filter media and starts a chemical reaction that destroys certain bacteria trapped on the surface within time after contact.

Ozone
Molecule consisting of 3 atoms of oxygen. Ozone is a colorless gas at room temperature and is a highly corrosive substance and common pollutant. Ozone in the upper atmosphere helps reduce the amount of damaging UV radiation from the sun. Ozone in the lower atmosphere (the air we breathe) can be harmful to the respiratory system and can be harmful to health.

SurroundAir™
Multi-directional airflow developed by Blueair and used in the 501 and 601 air purifiers. Achieves a high performance while eliminating annoying drafts.

VOC
Volatile organic compounds (VOC) are gas particles that are present in the air due to the usage of pesticides, solvents and cleaning agents.
